Custom Shop Policies

Last updated October 17, 2026. These policies apply to every Custom Shop order from Prime 42 LLC: Upload Your Design products, We Design It orders, custom 3D printing, and quotes paid by invoice.

1. How custom orders work

  1. Request. Order an Upload Your Design product, or send a request through our Custom Shop request form.
  2. Quote. Within 1–2 business days we check your request and email a written quote with price, shipping and turnaround. Quotes are valid for 14 days.
  3. Proof. We send a digital proof (a mockup for printed items, or a render or test photo for 3D prints).
  4. Approval. Nothing goes into production until you approve the proof in writing (an email reply is fine).
  5. Payment. Upload Your Design orders are paid at checkout. Quoted orders are paid by a secure Shopify invoice sent after you approve the proof.
  6. Production and shipping. We start production after approval and payment, then email tracking when it ships.

2. Proofs and approval

Every custom order gets a digital proof. Please check spelling, names, dates, colors, size and placement carefully. Once you approve a proof, the design is final and you're responsible for anything shown in it; changes after approval are a new order. We Design It orders include 2 revision rounds (3 for full illustrations). Extra rounds are $5–$20 depending on the design tier. Screen colors and filament colors vary slightly, and printed and 3D-printed items have small natural variations (layer lines, slight color shifts) that aren't defects.

3. Pricing, invoices and payment

  • Minimum order: $25 of merchandise for custom print-on-demand and custom 3D orders. Custom 3D also has a $6 per-piece minimum.
  • File check and proof (Upload Your Design): $5 per design, waived at 12+ units of the same design.
  • Design fees (We Design It): $15 simple text/layout, $35 logo cleanup, $95 or $175 custom illustration, $40/hour for 3D modeling (1 hour minimum). Design fees are invoiced and paid up front and are non-refundable once the first proof is delivered.
  • Custom 3D Print Deposit ($19.99): you can start a custom 3D request by ordering our Custom 3D Print Deposit. The $19.99 is credited on your final invoice. If we can't take the job, or you decline the quote, the deposit is fully refunded.
  • Custom 3D quotes: $10 setup per job + $0.10/gram + $2.00/print hour + $0.50 per hands-on minute. Multicolor, specialty filament and file repair are quoted as add-ons.
  • Quantity breaks (same design): 6+ 5% off, 12+ 10%, 24+ 15%, 48+ 20%. Breaks don't combine with discount codes or design-fee credits.
  • Invoices after proof approval: for quoted work we send a Shopify invoice by email after you approve the proof. You pay securely at Shopify checkout. Production starts when it's paid.
  • Custom 3D orders of $150 or more: we send two invoices. The first is a 50% non-refundable deposit that starts the job (less any $19.99 Custom 3D Print Deposit already paid, which is credited). The second is the balance, due before your order ships.
  • Print-on-demand orders are paid in full when you approve the proof, because our production partners charge us as soon as the order goes in.

4. Turnaround

  • Quote: 1–2 business days. Proof: 1 business day for Upload Your Design, 1–5 business days for We Design It, 1–3 business days for 3D.
  • Print-on-demand production: usually 2–5 business days after approval, then shipping.
  • Custom 3D: ships 5–7 business days after approval and payment. Rush (+30%, $20 minimum) ships in 2–3 business days and Super Rush (+60%, $40 minimum) the next business day, when capacity allows.
  • Typical total: about 7–14 business days. Deadlines are targets, not guarantees, unless we confirm them in writing. Holiday cutoffs: custom print-on-demand proofs approved by December 9; custom 3D by December 8 (December 14 with Rush and Priority shipping).

5. Your art, your rights

By sending us artwork, logos, photos, names, text or 3D files, you confirm that you own them or have written permission to use them, and that your order doesn't infringe anyone's copyright, trademark or right of publicity. You agree to cover Prime 42 LLC's costs and losses from any claim that content you provided infringes someone else's rights.

We can't print copyrighted or trademarked material you don't have written rights to. That includes sports team and league logos, Disney, Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, Nintendo, Pokémon, Dungeons & Dragons and other game, movie, TV and cartoon characters, company and brand logos, and celebrity likenesses. We also won't produce hate symbols or speech, harassment, threats, sexually explicit content, anything sexualizing minors, weapons or weapon parts, or anything illegal. We decide what we'll produce. If we decline an order before production, you get a full refund.

Designs we create. Prime 42 LLC keeps the copyright in artwork, layouts, vector redraws and 3D models we create, including ones made from your ideas or sketches. Your own logo stays yours. You get a personal, non-exclusive license to use and enjoy the products we make for you.

6. Physical products only: no design or 3D files

Prime 42 sells finished physical products only. We don't sell, send or share design or print files (PNG, SVG, AI, PSD, STL, 3MF, OBJ or any other format), including files for designs we created for you, unless a written agreement says otherwise.

Koza Design-based items. Some 3D items are based on designs by Koza Design and are sold as physical prints only. These items are credited “Design by Koza Design, printed by Prime 42.” We never share Koza STL or 3MF files, and commercial buyouts aren't available for Koza-based designs.

7. Returns on custom items

Custom and personalized items are made just for you, so we can't accept returns or exchanges for buyer's remorse, wrong size or color chosen, or errors in an approved proof. If your item arrives defective, damaged or misprinted (different from the approved proof), contact us within 14 days of delivery with photos and we'll reprint it or refund you.

Cancellations: you can cancel before production for a refund minus design fees and any deposit already spent on materials. Print-on-demand orders can't be canceled once they go to production.

8. Shipping

Standard US shipping is free on orders of $35 or more, custom orders included. Under $35, custom 3D ships for a flat $4.99 and custom print-on-demand items ship at the provider's standard rate. International orders pay the full calculated rate (higher than US). Priority and Express upgrades are available at real rates. International buyers are responsible for any import duties and taxes.

9. Portfolio

We may show photos of custom work (with names and personal details removed) in our shop and on social media, unless you ask us not to when you order.
